07 X5 - Rear Differential failure. Well you can you add me to the list of failed differentials. With just 84,000 miles my rear differential has failed. I started having a slight vibration/shake from the rear, most noticeable at 30 MPH. At first I thought it was a broken tire belt. I tried to ignore it, thinking it was a tire problem.
Am on BMW #4 and have always changed oil at 24,000km intervals no problems. Have read several times on Bimmerfest that the 4.8l can take up to 9.5 litres but the manual says 8. My most recent shop said they put 7.5 in and it showed it was full so we added another 2 litres after this problem arose, and it's been fine since.2007 and 2006 BMW X5.
