I am using hard economy mod amd with only 3 garages and 15 drivers (half of which are under 5 in skill rating) I make 50k a day so with vanilla economy I assume you would get even more. #3.
double-check that you have unpacked any zipped archives into the Mod folder. i have found that most mods won't work unless the .SCS file is visible in the mod folder. double-check any readme's that came with the mods in case there are special instructions for it's destination. Mods are usually .zip or .scs files that you put into the mod folder
