A thermal break is a component of construction that has low thermal conductivity. Thermal breaks can also be referred to as thermal barriers.
A thermal break, in construction, is an insulating material or barrier strategically placed within building components to interrupt the flow of thermal energy. A thermal break acts as a buffer zone between two conductive materials, preventing the transfer of heat from one side to the other.
The thermal break is a continuous barrier between the inside and outside window frames that prevent conductive thermal energy loss (see the image above).
